Ella Morton

Ella Morton is a Vancouver-born visual artist currently living in Toronto. She earned a BFA from Parsons School of Design in 2008, and an MFA from York University in 2015. She has exhibited her work widely, including solo shows in Canada and the US, and has also completed public art projects with Nocturne in Halifax and Land-Shape in Denmark. Morton’s expedition-based practice has brought her to residencies in Canada, Iceland and Svalbard, exploring landscape as a site where human beings confront the unknown and the sublime. Working primarily with analogue and antiquated photographic processes, her practice explores how we perceive a tension of the opposites – living in a quantifying, information-based culture and reflecting on the unquantifiable unknown.
