Miguel D’Olivares was born in Angola and studied at the National Society of Fine Arts of Lisbon, taking Painting, Drawing and Themes of Aesthetics and Contemporary Art courses.
Continuously inspired by his semi-nomadic childhood and the objects continuously present in his life, D’Olivares explores the materiality of memory. In his works, D’Olivares gives these memories agency; allowing them to grow and intertwine, celebrating the mark each has left on his psyche. D’ Olivares uses urban symbols and imagery in his painting, imprinting them with the memory networks from his past and exposing them to the viewer.
D’Olivares currents lives and works in Barcelona and Paris.
